How do I import questions from Excel?
Prepare columns, preview the file and confirm the import.
Use the import page’s template and numeric answer positions. Each row needs a question, at least two options and a correct answer.
Import targets the selected quiz or bank. Use that form’s template rather than a different column layout. Preview errors can be fixed before final import confirmation.
Before you start: Sign in, switch to Teacher, and open the Teacher Dashboard with an active educator plan or trial.
Prepare the file
Headings: Question, Option1, Option2, Option3, Option4, Correct Answer, Explanation. Keep options consecutive from Option1; leave only trailing unused options blank.
- Single answer: A position such as 2 for Option2.
- Multiple answers: Comma-separated positions such as 1,3.
- True/False: True in Option1, False in Option2, Option3/4 blank, answer 1 or 2.
- Explanation: Keep the column; values may be blank. Use plain text. Add image/code options manually.
Into a quiz
- Open Quizzes → View All Quizzes and Import → Import Questions by Excel Sheet.
- Upload the template-based file, review errors/preview and confirm.
- Review added questions and active status.
Into My Question Bank
Open My question bank → Import Questions. Choose bank category/subcategory, difficulty and status. Upload, click Upload and Preview and confirm. Bank imports support XLSX/CSV; follow the types/size limit shown on your selected form.

Common errors
- Use Option1–Option4, not Option A or Option 1.
- Question/Correct Answer cannot be blank. Answer uses numeric positions, not option text.
- Keep at least two consecutive filled options. Do not point to an empty option.
- Keep multiple positions such as 1,3 in one cell.
- Use plain text, remove unwanted duplicate/empty rows and follow displayed file types/size limits.
Imported but not visible?
Confirm completion and destination. A bank import does not populate a quiz automatically. Check question status, quiz mode/status and display count. Add image/code option formats manually.
Keep the template plain
Use the seven template headings rather than Option A/B or Option 1. Keep Question and Correct Answer filled; Explanation values may be blank. Use plain text instead of embedding images, HTML/scripts or rich code-option formatting. Remove unwanted duplicate/empty rows before upload and review the confirmed destination afterwards.
