What is Global Bank and My Question Bank on Quiz Pathshala?

Learn how Global Bank and My Question Bank work, how teachers can manage private bank questions, and how bank categories are different from quiz categories.

Quiz Pathshala provides question bank features to help teachers create quizzes faster and manage questions more easily.

There are mainly two question banks:

  • Global Bank

  • My Question Bank

Both banks are useful, but they work differently.

What is Global Bank?

Global Bank is a system-managed question bank.

It contains questions added and managed by the Quiz Pathshala team.

Who manages Global Bank?

Global Bank is managed by Quiz Pathshala.

Teachers cannot add, edit, delete, or upload questions into Global Bank.

Can teachers use Global Bank questions?

Yes. Teachers can select questions from Global Bank and import them directly into their own quizzes.

This helps teachers save time while creating quizzes.

Can teachers import Global Bank questions into My Question Bank?

No. Teachers cannot import Global Bank questions into My Question Bank.

If you want to use Global Bank questions, you can import selected questions directly into your quiz.

What is My Question Bank?

My Question Bank is a private question bank for each teacher.

It is used to store and manage the teacher’s own questions.

Who can access My Question Bank?

Each teacher has their own My Question Bank.

Questions added by one teacher in My Question Bank are private to that teacher.

Other teachers cannot access your My Question Bank questions.

My Question Bank categories are separate

My Question Bank has its own categories and subcategories.

These are different from quiz categories.

Important difference

Quiz categories and My Question Bank categories are not the same.

If you create a category from the main Category menu, that category is used for organizing quizzes.

That category will not automatically appear inside My Question Bank.

Where to create My Question Bank categories

To create categories for My Question Bank:

  • Open the Teacher Dashboard

  • Click My Question Bank from the left sidebar

  • Open Manage Categories

  • Create the required bank category

  • Create the required bank subcategory

Use My Question Bank Manage Categories when you want categories or subcategories for storing bank questions.

Category and subcategory are required in My Question Bank

When adding or importing questions into My Question Bank, category and subcategory are required.

This helps keep bank questions organized and searchable.

Why category and subcategory are required

Category and subcategory help teachers organize questions by:

  • Subject

  • Topic

  • Chapter

  • Exam

  • Difficulty area

  • Practice group

This becomes useful when your question bank grows.

Difficulty is used in My Question Bank

My Question Bank questions also use difficulty.

Difficulty helps teachers filter and manage questions better.

Available difficulty levels may include:

  • Easy

  • Medium

  • Hard

When you add or import questions into My Question Bank, select the correct difficulty before saving or importing.

How can I add questions to My Question Bank?

Teachers can add questions to My Question Bank in two main ways:

  • Add questions manually

  • Import questions using Excel

Add questions manually to My Question Bank

Manual question creation is useful when you want to create custom questions one by one.

How to open manual question form

To add a question manually:

  • Open the Teacher Dashboard

  • Click My Question Bank from the left sidebar

  • Click Add Question

  • Fill the question form

  • Save the question

The manual question form for My Question Bank is similar to the quiz question form.

You may need to fill details such as:

  • Question title

  • Extra details or supporting content, if needed

  • Category

  • Subcategory

  • Difficulty

  • Question type

  • Answer options

  • Correct answer

  • Explanation

  • Question status

Bank classification

In My Question Bank, category, subcategory, and difficulty are important.

These fields help store the question in the correct bank section and make filtering easier later.

Advanced option types

When adding a question manually, you can use advanced option types where available.

Advanced option types may include:

  • Text-only option

  • Image-only option

  • Text and Image Option

  • Code Snippet Option

These advanced option types are available in manual question creation.

Excel import is mainly for standard text-based questions.

Import questions into My Question Bank using Excel

Excel import is useful when you want to add many questions into My Question Bank at once.

How to open My Question Bank import form

To import questions into My Question Bank:

  • Open the Teacher Dashboard

  • Click My Question Bank from the left sidebar

  • The My Question Bank menu will expand

  • Click Import Questions

  • Select category

  • Select subcategory

  • Select difficulty

  • Select status

  • Upload the Excel file

  • Click Upload and Preview

  • Review the preview or validation result

  • Confirm the import

My Question Bank import form is different from quiz import form

The My Question Bank import form is different from the quiz question import form.

When importing into My Question Bank, you must select bank category, bank subcategory, difficulty, and status before importing.

These categories and subcategories must be created from My Question Bank Manage Categories.

What happens if I am a new teacher?

If you are a new teacher, your My Question Bank will be empty at first.

You need to add questions manually or import questions through Excel before using My Question Bank questions in your quizzes.

After questions are added to My Question Bank, you can select and import them into your own quizzes.

How can I use My Question Bank questions in a quiz?

After adding questions to My Question Bank, you can use them in your own quizzes.

Steps to use My Question Bank questions

To use My Question Bank questions in a quiz:

  • Login to your Quiz Pathshala account

  • Switch to Teacher role

  • Open the Teacher Dashboard

  • Open the Quiz menu

  • Go to View All Quiz

  • Find the quiz where you want to add questions

  • Choose the My Question Bank import option

  • Select the questions you want to import

  • Confirm the import

The selected questions will be added to your quiz.

Difference between quiz question import and My Question Bank import

Quiz question import and My Question Bank import are different.

Quiz question import

Quiz question import adds questions directly into a selected quiz.

Use this when you want questions to go directly into one quiz.

My Question Bank import

My Question Bank import adds questions into your private bank.

Use this when you want to store questions first and reuse them later in multiple quizzes.

Import questions from Global Bank

Global Bank contains questions added by the Quiz Pathshala team.

Teachers can select questions from Global Bank and import them directly into their own quizzes.

When should I use Global Bank?

Use Global Bank when:

  • You want ready questions

  • You want to save question creation time

  • You want to add questions from available Quiz Pathshala question collections

  • You do not want to create every question manually

Important Global Bank rule

Teachers cannot add questions to Global Bank.

Teachers cannot import questions into Global Bank.

Teachers cannot import Global Bank questions into My Question Bank.

Global Bank questions can be imported directly into a quiz only.

Difference between Global Bank and My Question Bank

Global Bank and My Question Bank are different in ownership and usage.

Global Bank

Global Bank:

  • Is managed by Quiz Pathshala

  • Contains questions added by the Quiz Pathshala team

  • Can be used by teachers to import questions directly into quizzes

  • Cannot be edited by teachers

  • Cannot receive teacher uploads or teacher imports

  • Cannot be imported into My Question Bank

My Question Bank

My Question Bank:

  • Is private for each teacher

  • Contains questions added by the teacher

  • Uses its own bank categories and subcategories

  • Uses difficulty such as Easy, Medium, and Hard

  • Can receive manual questions from the teacher

  • Can receive Excel imports from the teacher

  • Can be reused in the teacher’s own quizzes

  • Is not visible to other teachers

When should I use Global Bank?

Use Global Bank when:

  • You want to quickly add available questions to your quiz

  • You do not want to create every question manually

Global Bank is useful when you want to create quizzes faster using available Quiz Pathshala question collections.

When should I use My Question Bank?

Use My Question Bank when:

  • You want to create your own private question collection

  • You want to reuse your own questions in multiple quizzes

  • You want to manage custom questions

  • You want to import your own questions through Excel

  • You want to organize questions by bank category, subcategory, and difficulty

  • You want better control over your own question content

My Question Bank is useful for long-term question management.

Can I add the same question to multiple quizzes?

Yes. If a question is available in your My Question Bank, you can import it into your own quizzes where needed.

This helps you reuse useful questions without creating them again.

Can I add questions directly to a quiz without using My Question Bank?

Yes. You can add questions directly to a quiz.

You can:

  • Add questions manually to a quiz

  • Import questions into a quiz using Excel

  • Import questions from Global Bank

  • Import questions from My Question Bank

My Question Bank is helpful, but it is not required for every quiz.

Review questions before using them

Before importing questions into a quiz, review them carefully.

Check:

  • Question text

  • Extra details, if added

  • Category and subcategory

  • Difficulty

  • Options

  • Correct answer

  • Explanation

  • Question type

  • Formatting

  • Relevance

  • Duplicate questions

  • Active or inactive status, if available

Global Bank is managed by Quiz Pathshala and teachers cannot add questions to it.

My Question Bank is private for each teacher and is used for the teacher’s own questions.

My Question Bank categories and subcategories are separate from quiz categories and subcategories.

Teachers can import Global Bank questions directly into quizzes, but they cannot import Global Bank questions into My Question Bank.

Use Global Bank for available system questions and My Question Bank for your own private question collection.
