What happens if I leave or close a quiz during attempt?

Learn what may happen if you close, refresh, lose internet, or leave a quiz during an active attempt.

If you leave, close, refresh, or lose connection during a quiz attempt, your quiz attempt may be affected.

What happens depends on the quiz type, submission status, timer, schedule, attempt limit, and platform rules.

Avoid leaving a quiz during attempt

Once you start a quiz, try to complete and submit it without closing or refreshing the page.

Avoid:

  • Closing the browser tab

  • Refreshing the page

  • Pressing the back button

  • Cancelling the quiz without submission

  • Losing internet connection

  • Leaving the quiz page for a long time

This helps prevent answer loss or submission issues.

Practice Quiz

Practice Quiz is mainly for self-practice and revision.

Practice Quiz results are not saved as regular attempt records.

What happens if I refresh or close Practice Quiz?

If you refresh, close, or leave a Practice Quiz, the quiz may start again from the beginning when you open it again.

Your previous selected answers may not be restored.

What happens after completing Practice Quiz?

After completing a Practice Quiz, the result is shown on screen.

You can also review questions, options, correct answers, and explanations on the result page.

However, Practice Quiz results are usually not saved in My Attempts as regular saved attempt records.

Standard Quiz and Live Quiz

Standard Quiz and Live Quiz attempts are saved only after successful submission.

Starting a quiz does not count as a completed attempt.

The attempt count is usually counted after the quiz is submitted successfully.

What happens if I close or refresh Standard Quiz or Live Quiz?

If you start a Standard Quiz or Live Quiz and answer some questions, but close or refresh the page before submitting, your selected answers may not be saved.

When you open the quiz again, you may need to start the quiz again and select answers from the beginning.

If the quiz is still available and attempt rules allow it, you can attempt it again.

Does closing before submission use my attempt count?

No. In Standard Quiz and Live Quiz, the attempt count is usually counted after successful submission.

If you close, refresh, or cancel the quiz before submitting, it may not count as a completed attempt.

This means you usually do not need to worry about attempt limit just because you opened or started the quiz.

However, you must still follow quiz schedule, availability, and platform rules.

What happens if quiz end time passes?

If you have not started the quiz before the end time, you may not be able to start it after the quiz expires.

The quiz page may show that the quiz has expired or is no longer available.

If you already started before end time

If you start the quiz before the quiz end time and the end time passes during your attempt, your current attempt may continue.

You can complete and submit the quiz if the attempt is still active and no technical issue occurs.

This means the quiz does not automatically close just because the end time passes after you have already started the attempt.

Timer behavior

Timer behavior depends on how you leave the quiz.

If you switch tab

If you only switch to another tab or app, the timer may continue.

If you close or cancel the quiz before submission

If you close or cancel the quiz without submitting, the current attempt may stop.

When you start the quiz again, the timer may start from the beginning based on quiz rules.

What if internet disconnects?

If your internet disconnects during the quiz, submission may fail or the quiz page may stop working properly.

What to do

  • Reconnect to the internet quickly

  • Do not close the quiz page if possible

  • Try to submit after the connection is restored

  • If the quiz is still available, open it again if needed

When can submission fail?

Quiz submission may fail in some cases.

This can happen if:

  • Internet connection is lost during submission

  • The quiz becomes unavailable due to a technical issue

  • The quiz is deleted before submission

  • The quiz is made inactive before submission

  • The teacher’s Educator Plan expires before submission

  • There is a server or account-related issue

If submission fails, try again if the quiz is still available.

What should I do if I accidentally leave a quiz?

If you accidentally leave a quiz before submitting, open the quiz again and try to attempt it again if it is still available.

Remember:

  • Attempt count is usually counted after successful submission

  • Unsaved selected answers may need to be selected again

  • If the quiz has expired, you may not be able to start it again

  • If the quiz is Live Quiz, schedule and attempt rules still apply

How to avoid quiz interruption

Before starting a quiz, make sure:

  • Your internet connection is stable

  • Your device has enough battery

  • You have enough time to complete the quiz

  • You understand the quiz timer

  • You understand the quiz end time, if any

  • You do not refresh or close the page during the attempt

Important note

Practice Quiz may restart if you refresh or close it, and its result is usually not saved as a regular attempt record.

Standard Quiz and Live Quiz attempts are counted and saved only after successful submission.

If you close or refresh before submitting, selected answers may be lost and you may need to start again.

If you started a quiz before its end time, your current attempt may continue even if the end time passes during the attempt.

To avoid issues, complete and submit the quiz carefully with a stable internet connection.
