How do quiz attempt limits and temporary restrictions differ?
Understand per-quiz attempts, educator learner capacity and a temporary wait message.
A quiz attempt limit counts saved submissions for that quiz. An educator learner limit counts unique learners. If the page shows a temporary wait message, follow that message separately.
These restrictions have different causes and remedies. Buying access, entering a code or refreshing repeatedly does not automatically remove them.
Use the message on the quiz page
- Attempt limit reached: Check My Attempts and the quiz’s allowed submissions. Ask the educator about their quiz rules, or support if a platform-category count appears incorrect.
- Educator learner capacity full: Ask the educator to check the plan’s unique-learner usage, cycle or upgrade.
- Temporary wait/restriction: Stop repeated retries and return when the displayed restriction ends. If no time is shown or it persists, send the exact message to the owner/support.
Useful information
What is counted
Successful Standard/Live submissions are saved. Merely opening a quiz or closing before successful submission does not create a completed attempt. Practice does not create a My Attempts record. Restarting is still subject to availability and may lose answers.
Mode and access rules remain
Standard follows its configured attempt limit; a blank limit can allow repeated saved attempts. Live allows one saved submission. Practice supports repeat practice while access and availability permit it. Schedule, active status and educator-plan restrictions remain separate.
Temporary restrictions are message-dependent
Do not assume every quiz has the same cooldown or that paid category access guarantees an exemption. Use any actual message shown. A timed quiz closure, an exhausted submission limit and an educator block require different actions.
