Why am I unable to attempt a quiz?
Learn the common reasons why a quiz may not open or start, including login, role, access, schedule, attempt limit, access code, and plan rules.
Learners may not be able to attempt a quiz for different reasons.
This can happen due to login status, role selection, category access, access code, quiz schedule, attempt limit, or other quiz rules.
Check your login status
To attempt a quiz, you must be logged in to your Quiz Pathshala account.
If you are not logged in, you may be able to view some pages, but you may not be able to start the quiz.
What to do
Login to your Quiz Pathshala account
Open the quiz again
Try to start the quiz
Check your active role
Your active role should be Learner.
If your active role is Teacher, you may be redirected to teacher dashboard features instead of learner quiz access.
What to do
Login to your account
Open the role or account dropdown
Switch to Learner role
Open the quiz again
Paid category access may be required
Some quizzes are inside paid categories.
If the quiz is a paid quiz inside a paid category, you need active category access to attempt it.
What to do
Open the category page
Check whether the quiz is free or paid
Purchase or renew category access if required
Try again after successful payment
Category access may have expired
If your paid category access has expired, paid quizzes inside that category may become locked again.
What to do
Switch to Learner role
Open My Categories
Check active category access
Renew the category if renewal is available
The quiz may require an access code
Educator-created private quizzes require an access code.
Private quizzes can still be visible on the educator profile page, but learners need the correct access code to attempt them.
What to do
Check if the quiz shows an access code requirement
Enter the correct access code
If you do not have the code, contact the teacher or educator
The access code may be incorrect
If the access code is wrong, you may not be able to start the quiz.
What to do
Check spelling and numbers carefully
Make sure there are no extra spaces
Ask the teacher for the correct access code
Quiz start time may not have arrived
Some quizzes are scheduled with a start date and time.
If the quiz start time has not arrived yet, the quiz may show a countdown instead of the start button.
The countdown may show the remaining time in days, hours, minutes, and seconds.
When the scheduled start time arrives, the quiz may become available automatically based on quiz settings and platform rules.
What to do
Check the countdown shown on the quiz page
Wait until the quiz start time arrives
Refresh or open the quiz again if needed
Make sure you are logged in and using Learner role
Quiz end time may have passed
If the quiz has an end date and time, the quiz may not be available after the end time.
When the quiz end time has passed, the quiz page may show a message that the quiz has expired or is no longer available.
What to do
Check whether the quiz has expired
Try another available quiz
If it is an educator-created quiz, contact the teacher or educator
If it is a Quiz Pathshala paid category quiz and you think it has expired incorrectly, contact Quiz Pathshala support
Attempt limit may be reached
Some quizzes have an attempt limit.
If you have already used all allowed attempts, the quiz page may show a message that the attempt limit has been reached.
For educator-created quizzes, the teacher can set the attempt limit based on their quiz settings.
For paid category quizzes, attempt rules may depend on Quiz Pathshala category settings and platform rules.
What to do
Check the message shown on the quiz page
Check your previous attempts from My Attempts
Review the quiz attempt rules
If it is an educator-created quiz, contact the teacher or educator
If it is a Quiz Pathshala paid category quiz and you think the limit is showing incorrectly, contact Quiz Pathshala support
The quiz may be inactive
The quiz owner or platform team can keep a quiz active or inactive.
If a quiz is inactive, it will not be available for learner attempts.
For educator-created quizzes, the teacher controls whether the quiz is active or inactive.
For Quiz Pathshala paid category quizzes, active paid quizzes should normally be available during the learner’s active category access period, unless schedule, quiz rules, or platform settings apply.
What to do
Try again later
If it is an educator-created quiz, contact the teacher or educator
If it is a Quiz Pathshala paid category quiz and your category access is active, contact Quiz Pathshala support if the quiz is unexpectedly unavailable
Required quiz mode may be disabled
A quiz may have different modes such as:
Standard Quiz
Practice Quiz
Live Quiz
If the required mode is disabled, you may not see that quiz option.
For example:
If Standard Quiz is disabled, Standard Quiz may not be available
If Practice Quiz is disabled, Practice Quiz may not be available
If Live Quiz is enabled, the quiz follows live quiz rules and schedule
No questions may be available
If no questions are added to a quiz, learners may not be able to attempt it properly.
What to do
Try another quiz
If it is an educator-created quiz, contact the teacher or educator
If it is a Quiz Pathshala category quiz and you think questions are missing by mistake, contact Quiz Pathshala support
Teacher plan may be inactive
For educator-created quizzes, learner access depends on the teacher’s active Educator Plan.
If the teacher’s Educator Plan is inactive or expired, the educator profile and quizzes may become unavailable.
What to do
Try again later
Contact the teacher for clarification
Teacher learner limit may be full
Educator Plans may have a monthly learner limit.
If the teacher’s monthly learner limit is full, new learners may not be able to attempt that teacher’s quizzes.
What to do
Contact the teacher
Try again after the learner limit resets
Wait for the teacher to upgrade the plan, if needed
You may be blocked by the teacher
A teacher can block a learner from attempting their own quizzes.
If blocked by a teacher, you may not be able to attempt that teacher’s public or private quizzes.
This block applies only to the teacher who blocked you.
Temporary restriction may apply
Some quizzes may have temporary attempt restrictions to prevent misuse or repeated rapid attempts.
If you repeatedly attempt the same quiz many times in a short period, a temporary restriction may apply for that quiz.
What to do
Wait for the restriction period to end
Attempt different quizzes normally
Avoid repeatedly starting the same quiz many times in a row
Payment may be successful but access not updated
Sometimes payment may be successful, but access may take a short time to update.
This can happen due to payment gateway processing or technical delay.

Check Billing Details
Check My Categories
Wait a short time and refresh
Contact support if access is still not active
