How to edit or update a teacher quiz after publishing?

Learn how teachers can edit quiz details, settings, questions, access code, schedule, and status after creating a quiz.

Teachers can edit or update their own quizzes on Quiz Pathshala after creating them.

This helps teachers correct mistakes, update quiz settings, add questions, change access rules, or manage quiz availability.

Who can edit a teacher quiz?

Only the teacher or educator who created or manages the quiz can edit that quiz.

Teachers cannot edit quizzes created by other teachers.

How to edit a quiz

To edit a quiz:

  • Login to your Quiz Pathshala account

  • Switch to Teacher role

  • Open the Teacher Dashboard

  • Go to the Quiz section

  • Open View All Quiz

  • Find the quiz you want to update

  • Click the edit option for that quiz

  • Update the required details

  • Save the changes

After saving, the updated settings will apply based on the quiz rules and platform behavior.

What quiz details can be updated?

Teachers may be able to update quiz details such as:

  • Quiz title

  • Slug

  • Category

  • Subcategory

  • Quiz type settings

  • Time limit

  • Number of questions to display

  • Marks per question

  • Passing percentage

  • Negative marking

  • Attempt limit

  • Start date and time

  • End date and time

  • Answer reveal settings

  • Access code

  • Active or inactive status

Available fields may depend on the quiz type and dashboard settings.

Updating quiz title and slug

Teachers can update the quiz title if needed.

The slug may be generated from the title, or it may be editable manually if the option is available.

Before changing the slug, remember that old shared links may be affected if the quiz URL depends on the slug.

Updating quiz access code

Teachers can add, change, or remove the quiz access code.

Add access code

Add an access code when you want the quiz to be private.

Learners will need the correct access code to attempt the quiz.

Change access code

Change the access code if the old code was shared with the wrong people or if you want to give access to a new group.

Remove access code

Remove the access code if you want the quiz to be accessible without a code, based on other quiz settings.

Updating quiz schedule

Teachers can update quiz start and end date settings.

Start date and time

If a start date and time is set, learners can attempt the quiz only after that time.

End date and time

If an end date and time is set, learners may not be able to attempt the quiz after the quiz end time.

Before updating schedule settings, check whether learners have already started or attempted the quiz.

Updating answer reveal settings

Teachers may update answer reveal or result visibility settings.

Answer reveal settings decide when learners can see answers or result details.

For Live Quiz, answer reveal settings are important because learner result visibility may depend on the selected reveal time.

Teachers can still review submitted saved attempts from the Teacher Dashboard after learners complete the attempt.

Updating quiz mode settings

Teachers may update quiz mode settings such as:

  • Standard Quiz

  • Practice Quiz

  • Live Quiz

If Live Quiz is enabled, Standard and Practice options may be disabled automatically based on platform rules.

Always review the quiz mode carefully before saving changes.

Adding or updating questions

Teachers can add more questions to an existing quiz.

They can use available options such as:

  • Add questions manually

  • Import questions using Excel

  • Import questions from Global Bank

  • Import questions from My Question Bank

Teachers should review questions before making the quiz available to learners.

Editing questions after publishing

Teachers may update quiz questions if needed.

This can be useful when:

  • A question has a spelling mistake

  • An option is incorrect

  • Correct answer needs correction

  • Explanation needs improvement

  • More questions need to be added

  • Some questions need to be inactive or removed

If learners have already attempted the quiz, be careful while changing questions because old attempt records may be based on the earlier version of the quiz.

Activating or deactivating a quiz

Teachers can control whether a quiz is active or inactive.

Active quiz

An active quiz may be visible or available to learners based on quiz rules.

Inactive quiz

An inactive quiz will not be available for learner attempts.

Use inactive status when you want to temporarily hide or stop a quiz.

What should I check after editing a quiz?

After updating a quiz, check:

  • Quiz title is correct

  • Category and subcategory are correct

  • Quiz mode is correct

  • Questions are added

  • Correct answers are set properly

  • Marks and negative marking are correct

  • Attempt limit is correct

  • Start and end time are correct

  • Answer reveal settings are correct

  • Access code is correct, if required

  • Quiz status is active if you want learners to attempt it

Why learners may still not access the quiz after editing

Learners may still not be able to access the quiz if:

  • Quiz is inactive

  • No questions are added

  • Access code is required and learner does not have it

  • Quiz start time has not arrived

  • Quiz end time has passed

  • Attempt limit has been reached

  • Teacher plan or trial is inactive

  • Monthly learner limit is full

  • Learner has been blocked by the teacher

  • There is a technical or account-related issue

Important note

Teachers can edit or update only their own quizzes.

After editing a quiz, always review quiz settings, questions, access code, schedule, and active status before sharing it with learners.

If learners have already attempted the quiz, update questions and scoring settings carefully because old attempt records may already exist.
