How does educator billing and AutoPay work?
Understand activation, trial charges, renewal and cancelling future payments.
Educator activation requires AutoPay setup. An eligible trial starts before paid billing; future charges follow the amount/schedule shown at checkout.
An educator subscription pays for workspace access and the selected learner allowance. It is separate from learner category purchases. The plan, billing duration, trial eligibility and renewal amount are shown before checkout approval.
Activation and renewal
- Trial: Review the trial end and first charge before setup.
- Paid plan: Access activates after payment/setup verification. Successful charges create billing records.
- Renewal: AutoPay charges according to the subscription schedule while renewal is enabled.
- Failed renewal: Check subscription status. If a payment grace deadline is shown, resolve payment before it to avoid locked access.
Stop future charges
- Open My Plans or the educator subscription status card.
- Choose Cancel AutoPay and confirm.
- Check AutoPay Cancelled and review Access Until.
Cancellation stops future automatic payments; current paid/trial access continues to its existing end date. It does not request a refund.
Find receipts/confirmations in Billing Details → Teacher Billing → Details.

What Trial + AutoPay means
An eligible setup starts the trial and authorizes future billing. The paid plan amount is not charged at trial start; check the gateway’s setup/authorization screen for mandate-verification details. Paid billing follows the approved schedule after trial end unless future renewal was cancelled. Cancelling before expiry keeps the remaining trial access while stopping its future automatic charge.
Receipts versus trial confirmations
Teacher Billing can show trial confirmation before a paid charge exists. A successful paid charge creates a record with amount, available payment/order reference and receipt/download option. A mandate or trial confirmation is not a payment receipt.
If the plan stops renewing
Check the current subscription status and any payment deadline shown. When usable access ends, tools and educator quiz access can lock. See what expiry affects.
